The Stars Align STEAM Toolkit for the Future is an educational program designed to empower students to engage with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) through creativity, technology, and design thinking. By addressing local, state, national, or global issues, the program inspires learners to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond. Leveraging local resources, partnerships, AI, space technologies, creative arts, and empathy, Stars Align is structured around three key components:
1. Song Composition: A Global Anthem for Humanity
Students worldwide collaborate to compose a song that celebrates humanity and addresses the themes of the UN SDGs. This initiative culminates in a powerful event on World Earth Day 2025, where participants perform the song simultaneously through virtual connections at live events held across the world. This unique component fosters global unity, creativity, and empathy through music.
2. Code for our Future: Technology Meets Sustainability
The Code for our Future challenges students to apply artificial intelligence to address specific UN SDGs. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, participants develop innovative solutions to pressing challenges such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. This competition emphasizes the transformative potential of AI to drive positive change and encourages students to think critically about the ethical implications of their solutions.
3. STEAM Toolkit for the Future: Problem-Solving Through Design Thinking
At the heart of Stars Align is a robust STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) curriculum toolkit. Students utilize a structured design thinking process to ideate, prototype, and evaluate solutions to real-world problems. The process includes:
